History

Andrea’s fun way of advertising her return full-time to DC after work in Iowa and DC for 2 years.
Gibson Design Management was founded and is advised by professional interior designer and ASID member for over 30 years, Andrea Gibson. She built a successful interior design business and through years of learning what works and what doesn’t has implemented systems, technology and great people to ensure her business’s success. Gibson Design Management allows you to take advantage of that 30 years of experience — the systems, the technology, and the people in order to make your design business more successful.
Andrea Gibson, ASID founded Gibson Design Group, Inc. in 1972, then called Architectural Interiors, Inc. Since that time, she has moved her firm from the DC metro area to Sun Valley, Idaho, to Seattle, Washington, and then to Charlottesville, Virginia. She has served clients all over the United States during her career.

Andrea and Alexandra (age 4)- a good pair from the start.
Alexandra Gibson, Andrea’s daughter, joined Gibson Design Group in 2005 as the Director of Business Development and as a partner. With a background in business and not design, Alexandra worked on implementing additional systems and technologies, as well as growing the business in both profitability and needed personnel.
On January 8, 2008, Gibson Design Management was launched with Alexandra Gibson acting as CEO and President and Andrea Gibson acting in an advisory and ownership role. Together, with a terrific team, Gibson Design Management offers interior design firms membership-based professional alternatives to in-house staffing. Our memberships allow our designer members to become more efficient and ultimately more profitable.
Gibson Design Management is dedicated to working with interior design firms and interior designers to achieve their goals through concentration on the aspects of their businesses where they lack efficiencies. GDM members are able to grow their business, become more efficient and more profitable, and get back to the real reason why they become an interior designer.
